Tom’s lifelong passion for helping others has shaped his career. After law school, he served as an assistant prosecuting attorney with more than 200 jury trials, started his own criminal defense law practice, and was elected to the bench of the 86th District Court in Traverse City, MI.
Tom came to recovery in 2002, and his experiences brought him to a new career focus: helping individuals and their loved ones to find lasting recovery. In 2006, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Addiction Counseling from Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies. With additional intervention training, Tom has conducted over 100 interventions, helping individuals and families on their lifelong quest for recovery and better lives.
Tom is committed to ending the stigma associated with addiction. He speaks around the country on topics of prevention, addiction, treatment, advocacy, and recovery. In addition to interventions, Tom provides recovery counseling and professional legal services specialized to address addiction, treatment, and recovery.
